    A Fresh Start

    Jun 2, 2011 · 17 Comments

    Welcome to Crumb!

Today is my fifth anniversary as a blogger. It's also my first day as a self-hosted WordPress blogger, complete with fancy new layout and design... a change that may have happened overnight to you, but has been months in the making for me.

Why Crumb? I wanted something short and catchy, food-related, and that spoke as much to sweet as it did to savoury... Crumb met all those requirements, and then some. I love the way the single syllable rolls off the tongue when you say it out loud, and the way it conjures up images of crumbly pastries and cookies, fresh-baked loaves of bread, or the last remnants of a really good meal. Like Baby Bear's porridge to my Goldilocks, it felt just right.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the new site - both positive and negative. It's very important to me that it be an enjoyable and intuitive for my visitors. Please don't hesitate to drop me a note at my new email address: crumbblog [at] gmail [dot] com

    Love,
    Isabelle

LOVE the new look and name. So clean, so fresh, so lovely! I'm redesigning my site right now too. So much work, looks like yours has paid off!

Can't wait to see the new look, Annalise! It is definitely a lot of work, but it's so satisfying in the end once all the different elements come together. (That said, I hope I don't have to do another major redesign for a while... once every five years is enough for me!)

Love the new look, Isabelle! Maybe the boy needs his own guest column since he has such great ideas? A column about eating all the delicious food you make, perhaps? :)

Heh. Maybe I should. The title of his first post can be "Why Don't My Shorts From Last Summer Fit Any More?" ;)

I've been under the rock called tv news for the past few days! I love the new look and the new name! VERY nice :-) Good for you for doing the move over yourself. I keep thinking that maybe I could handle it, but I'm just so scared of messing it all up! Congrats!

It looks great! It's clean, it's fresh... and it really lets YOU and your food take the attention, rather than the background hogging some of the spotlight. Lovin' the name too! And, of course, congrats on five years... I can't wait to see what's in store for the next!

I love the new layout AND title! I'm always one for the small details and I absolutely love how at the end of the post there are little crumbs, great accent! I really like the look overall, it's fresh and clean. Congrat's on self hosting!! I have yet to bit the bullet :)

Thanks! I can't take credit for the crumbs... those were The Boy's suggestion. I do love them, though.

Thanks! I figured a big change like this might be confusing at first, but it just seemed easier to do it all at once rather than by bits and pieces. So glad you like it!
