We were supposed to be in Ottawa this weekend to visit family, but our plans fell through at the last minute.
Instead, we ended up hopping on our bikes on Saturday morning to enjoy the second round of #foodtruckeats at the Distillery, followed by a quick stopover at the St Lawrence Market for sausage-making supplies on the way home.
As for Sunday, we spent the morning having a lazy breakfast with the kittehs, and proceeded to spend the rest of the day puttering in the kitchen while the storm clouds rolled in from the west and lashed our little brick house with the full fury of a summer thunderstorm.
This weekend’s output – 2 lbs of homemade lamb sausage, a grape and rosemary cake, and 5 lbs of slow-roasted tomatoes… plus a sore butt and legs from biking up that long, unreleting hill on Logan Ave with a basket full of market goodies.
Not bad for an suddenly unplanned weekend. Not bad indeed.
