Friday Pin-Ups: Winter Warmers

January 19, 2013|Posted in: odds and ends

I may have cried a little when I looked at the forecast for the next week.  It seems that, after a spell of pleasantly mild weather that flirted with the freezing point (and a few days of downright beautiful and unseasonably weather), we’re in for a couple of weeks’ worth of truly frigid temperatures.

It’s going to be downright freakin’ cold, people, and I’m not happy about it.

Since hibernation isn’t an option, I’m trying to remind myself that this kind of cold isn’t all bad.  With it comes bright crystalline sunshine that streams through my bedroom windows in the morning, and a cold nip in the air that wakes me up faster than the strongest cup of coffee.

It makes the perfect excuse to spend a cozy weekend morning huddled under the covers, a reason to curl up on a comfy chair to finish one of the many knitting projects I’ve been neglecting, and the kick in the pants I need to finally file away the stacks of paperwork covering every available surface of the office desk.

And there is something to be said for the blissful feeling of wrapping chilled fingers around a hot mug after a brisk walk home.

OK, I guess I’m ready. Bring it on, winter.

(Yes, I know… it’s actually Saturday, but in my defence, I did really have every intention of posting this on Friday before life decided to get in the way. Better late than never, right?)

We’re having quite a cold spell too. I keep trying to remember when it was so hot last summer that I couldn’t stand it. That gives me a better perspective and I just bundle up and enjoy it:) I’d really enjoy it with one of these yummy hot drinks!

Yeh, bring it on winter. Any of these heart warming drinks would make it seem better.
